Our online ticketing site offers a host of features. Check out “My Account” at tickets@chemainustheatre to do the following:
- View your tickets for upcoming performances. This is handy if you have forgotten the date or seats that you have booked. Simply login and select “Tickets for Upcoming Performances.”
- View past purchases made online. This is helpful if you want to see what seats you booked before. Login and select “Past Shopping Carts.”
- Change your contact information. Login and click on “Account” to make changes.
- Trouble logging in? These are the most common issues:
- We already have your email address on file from a previous purchase. Click “Rest My Password” to receive an email link to create a new password.
- Not receiving the password reset email? We recommend that you add firstname.lastname@example.org to your email contacts and then try again. Remember to check your Spam folder.

The Chemainus Theatre offices are closed until further notice. Box Office staff are working remotely and can be reached via email. We are unable to accept incoming phone calls at this time.

Enter your online booking code in the “Coupon Code” box in your shopping cart. This will update the prices of your tickets according to the voucher you are using. Be sure to make note of any restrictions on the vouchers and book your tickets accordingly.
The online ticket site will not allow you to apply multiple coupons to one order. If you have more than one coupon, please call the Box Office and our staff will be happy to assist you with applying those to your order.
Enter your online booking code into the “Coupon Code” box in your shopping cart. This will update the prices of your tickets according to the coupon you are using.

In particular, if you are using Internet Explorer 9 or Safari 7 – or an earlier version of either – we strongly recommend that you upgrade to a web browser that is able to provide a better and more secure online experience.
If you believe Chemainus Theatre has your email address on file, click “Reset My Password” and you will be emailed a link with instructions to reset your password. If this is your first time purchasing tickets from the Chemainus Theatre, click “New Patron” to set up an account.

Tips for Booking Your Seats Online
Online booking codes can be found on the Season Ticket confirmation letter.
- Go to chemainustheatre.ca and click “Buy Tickets”
- Online bookings must be made by the season ticket account holder. If you don’t know your password, click “Forgot My Password” to reset.
- Go through the process of buying tickets:
- Select your performance and seats.
- Make sure you have selected the correct seat type (Premium or Standard) and ticket type (Theatre Only or Dinner/Theatre) that match your Season Ticket package.
- Note: you will see the full price of the tickets in your order until you enter your booking code
- The online booking code can be entered in the “Coupon Code” box in your Shopping Cart. This will update the price of your tickets.
- Proceed to checkout.
Theatre etiquette is simply being courteous of others around you. The following are a few helpful tips that will ensure that everyone will enjoy the show.
- Turn off all electronic devices including cell phones, pagers, beepers, alarms and all other devices that may make noise and disturb the performers and audience members.
- Please do not check email or text messages during the performance. The screen lights up and disrupts the show for those around you.
- Please do not place your feet on the seat in front of you.
- Be considerate of your neighbours and refrain from speaking or whispering to the person beside you during the performance.
- Please sit in the seat you are assigned so you do not cause confusion for other audience members unless otherwise instructed by theatre staff or volunteers.
- At the end of the performance, remain in your seats until the curtain call is finished and the house lights have been turned on.
Click on the Shopping Cart button at the top of the screen. This will take you to a listing of all the tickets you have selected in your current session. Simply click on the check box to the right of the tickets and click the “Remove from Shopping Cart” button to release any unwanted tickets.
Please check your spam or trash folder. If you still are unable to locate it, please add email@example.com to your email contacts and try again.
You are also welcome to call the Box Office where a ticket agent will be happy to assist you.
On the page that shows the seats offered to you by the system, you will a list of ticket options with the heading “Price Selection.” Select your ticket type here. Please make the appropriate choice for each ticket you have purchased.
We pride ourselves in being one of the hardest working theatres in the country earning almost all our revenue at the box office and in the dining room and gift shop but every year it gets harder to balance the budget and deliver you the experience you deserve.

Your ticket account helps us provide the best possible service to you. It allows us to track your special needs, preferences, and contact information. Should there be a problem with your tickets, we can reach you to solve the problem prior to your arrival. Should your tickets be lost, stolen or forgotten, we can replace them for you if you have a ticket account with us. Your information is secure and will not be sold or distributed.
Luckily we have your ticket account information on file, which will allow us to reprint your tickets for you at no extra charge.
The Chemainus Theatre Festival is situated in the mural town of Chemainus on Vancouver Island. Our address is 9737 Chemainus Road, Chemainus, British Columbia.
We are located 77 km north of (downtown) Victoria. Depending on how fast you drive and traffic conditions, it could take up to 1 hour and 30 minutes. We are 34 km south of Nanaimo (about 45 minutes from the ferry terminal).
From the Island Highway, take the Henry Road exit. The Theatre is just north of the traffic circle at the Best Western Plus Chemainus Inn, which is at the Chemainus Road and Henry Road intersection.
Ferry Terminal locations in Victoria and Nanaimo connect to Vancouver (Tsawwassen & Horseshoe Bay) and the USA (Port Angeles, Anacortes and Seattle). Please visit the BC Ferries website for schedules: www.bcferries.com.
It is not mandatory but highly recommended. Availability is often directly related to how far in advance of the performance the tickets are booked.
From the beginning, the Chemainus Theatre has been led by a multidisciplinary Board of Directors who volunteer their time to provide the Theatre with its strategic direction and support the Theatre’s activities and programs with expert consultation and advice.
Our volunteer corps of 160 members also serves in the Costume Shop, at the Theatre as coat check, ambassadors, and ushers, at our Administration Office, and on committees like the organizing committee for our annual benefit gala. With nearly 7,000 volunteer hours in 2013 dedicated to the Theatre, we can truly say that we cannot open our doors to patrons without the dedication of our volunteers.
Our volunteers hail from all across the Cowichan Valley and Nanaimo Region as well as Victoria. Whether it’s for a few hours each month or several hours each week, our volunteers are integral to our not-for-profit arts company.

Yes. There are three price levels in the theatre: Premium, Standard and Economy, as indicated on the theatre map. Prices for these sections vary depending on the production and the performance date.
Performances begin promptly at the scheduled start time. If you arrive late you will be seated at an appropriate break in designated seats close to the door. After intermission you may move to your booked seats.
If you have missed a performance, you may book a Missed Show Ticket. This offers you the opportunity to see another performance date of the same show at 40% off. Contact the Box Office for more information.
The run time of a play is the time from the opening act to the end of the performance. This changes with each production. For specific run times of a show, please call the Box Office or visit our website.
Many patrons suffer from allergies relating to fragrances. We ask that you refrain from using perfumes for the health and well-being of your fellow patrons.
Cameras, video cameras and any other image or sound-recording devices are strictly prohibited in the theatre due to copyright laws.
Please ask us for play and age recommendations, as some productions may not be suitable for all ages. Tickets must be purchased for any child attending a performance and children must be seated with a parent or guardian. Please note that children age three and under, including babes-in-arms, will not be admitted to performances (except KidzPlay Series).

Special group rates are available for parties of 10 or more. The Chemainus Theatre provides the ideal opportunity for your group to get together for something entertaining and different. It is common practice for professional theatres to have a Capital Improvement Fee or CIF charged on each individual ticket. The CIF helps the Chemainus Theatre Festival sustain the upkeep of our theatre building and maintain services we are able to provide to our patrons.
We offer a variety of discounts every season, as listed below:
- Child rates for ages 4 – 12 for our Mainstage productions.
- Student rates (with valid ID) for ages 13-18.
- Economy seating is offered at every performance (subject to availability).
- Season Tickets are a great way to save, with up to 27% in savings.
- Season ticket holders may purchase additional tickets throughout the season with a 15% discount.

Your tickets will be held at the Box Office under the name of the person that booked the tickets. You can also request to have them mailed to you for a fee of $2.00.
The theatre has a dedicated parking lot for patrons directly behind the building. It often fills up so we suggest the free street parking in Chemainus.
The Chemainus Theatre Festival is fully wheelchair accessible. As space within the theatre is limited, we ask you to book wheelchair seating in advance. Please let us know if you have an attendant with whom you wish to sit.
We like to see you at the theatre at least 30 minutes before the performance, or if you are booked in the Playbill Dining Room, a few minutes before the start of your seating time. We will make every effort to seat you as quickly as possible during your selected seating.
You are more than welcome to arrive earlier and enjoy a pre-show drink at our concession in the lobby, browse the art collection and gifts in The Gallery Gift Shop, or check out the famous murals and many shops around the boutique village of Chemainus.
All tickets are non-refundable, however you may exchange your tickets for another date within the same production provided 48 hours notice is given. One complimentary exchange per production is granted. A $5 exchange fee applies for any subsequent exchanges. Exchanges within 48 hours of a performance may be possible. Additional exchange fees may apply.
