About the Chemainus Theatre Festival:
The Chemainus Theatre Festival is a not-for-profit professional theatre company located on Vancouver Island. Since opening the doors to its 274 seat venue in 1993, annual attendance has grown from 14,000 to over 50,000 patrons per season. In addition to producing live, professional theatre, the Chemainus Theatre experience features the Playbill Dining Room, Fireside Lounge and Gallery Gift Shop.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Executive Chef and Hospitality Manager, Line Cook is responsible for delivering high quality culinary services and maintaining established food and sanitation standards.
The scheduled hours for this position will vary, depending on the theatre’s production schedule. Hours will range between 32-40 hours per week while the restaurant is operating. Shifts will be scheduled Tuesday through Sunday with the majority including evenings.
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, specifications, and presentation standards
· Set up and break down assigned stations with necessary supplies and equipment
· Maintain consistent food quality, portion control, and timely execution during service
· Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards
· Keep workstations clean, organized, and stocked throughout shifts
· Properly label, date, and store food items to maintain freshness and safety
· Communicate effectively with kitchen leadership and teammates during service
· Assist with prep work and other kitchen positions as needed to support efficient kitchen operations
· Minimize food waste through proper handling and storage practices
· Respond quickly and professionally to changing service demands
· Maintain cleanliness of kitchen tools, equipment, and shared work areas
· Adhere to company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Food Safe Level 1
1 year of similar experience is preferred.
