What is theatre etiquette?

Theatre etiquette is simply being courteous of others around you. The following are a few helpful tips that will ensure that everyone will enjoy the show.

  • Turn off all electronic devices including cell phones, pagers, beepers, alarms and all other devices that may make noise and disturb the performers and audience members.
  • Please do not check email or text messages during the performance. The screen lights up and disrupts the show for those around you.
  • Please do not place your feet on the seat in front of you.
  • Be considerate of your neighbours and refrain from speaking or whispering to the person beside you during the performance.
  • Please sit in the seat you are assigned so you do not cause confusion for other audience members unless otherwise instructed by theatre staff or volunteers.
  • At the end of the performance, remain in your seats until the curtain call is finished and the house lights have been turned on.

Can I bring my children?

Please ask us for play and age recommendations, as some productions may not be suitable for all ages. Tickets must be purchased for any child attending a performance and children must be seated with a parent or guardian. Please note that children age three and under, including babes-in-arms, will not be admitted to performances (except KidzPlay Series).
