About the Chemainus Theatre Festival:
The Chemainus Theatre Festival is a not-for-profit professional theatre company located on Vancouver Island. Since opening the doors to its 274 seat venue in 1993, annual attendance has grown to over 40,000 patrons per season. In addition to producing live, professional theatre, the Chemainus Theatre experience also includes the Playbill Dining Room, Fireside Lounge and Gallery Gift Shop.
Position Overview:
As a Ticketing & Sales Agent, you will be part of a dynamic department that handles all aspects of Box Office operations including sales, customer service, ticketing and reporting. You will be a member of an outstanding customer service team, selling theatre, dining and hotel packages, and facilitating our charitable giving campaigns. You will engage with customers both in-person and over the phone, ensuring a seamless ticket purchasing experience. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a passion for the arts.
Hours of Work
- This is a casual part-time position, with variable hours depending on the theatre’s production schedule and sales activity.
- Hours will vary between 6 – 20 hours per week
- Primarily day shifts on any days between Tuesday – Sunday (some Saturday & Sunday availability is required)
- 2 weeks of training is provided (approximately 40 hours)
- Anticipated training start date: Mid-October
Who You Are
You’re a friendly, dependable and enthusiastic individual who enjoys the arts and engaging with people. You thrive in fast-paced environments, are highly detail-oriented and take initiative. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a flexible schedule – whether that means picking up extra shifts during busy shows and subscription sales, or enjoying lighter hours during quieter periods (i.e. between shows).
Key Responsibilities:
- Process all reservations and payments for theatre, dining, subscriptions, hotel packages, gift certificates, and any other marketed packages using Spektrix software
- Respond to patron inquiries via phone, email, and in-person in a pleasant and informative manner
- Process and distribute daily reports
- Responsible for POS operation and daily cash balancing
- Monitor web sales orders and aid patrons using the online ticketing system
- Maintain the patron database, ensuring accurate data-entry
- Process donations and provide information on donation campaigns
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Exceptional customer service skills, including pleasant phone manner and articulate verbal communication
- Proficiency in keyboarding and confident using computers, preferably Microsoft Office
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to think clearly while under pressure and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to enter electronic data with speed and accuracy
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Honesty and integrity in dealing with confidential information
- An appreciation of live theatre
