Former music teacher Brooke Maxwell is a Victoria-based singing piano player in a long-term love affair with New Orleans and the various offshoots of 1950’s popular music. He also plays the saxophone and is one of the founding members of the Victoria supergroups Wild Honey Pie (the Beatles), the Chuckle Berries (Chuck Berry) and the Beautiful Maladies (Tom Waits) as well as a regular musician at Pagliacci’s & music director at Esquimalt United. He has composed the music for three musicals including Gruff and the off-Broadway hit, Ride the Cyclone. He’s thankful that his parents forced him to stay in piano lessons, regrets that they didn’t also make him take dance and wishes he was Cuban on a daily basis.
