Set Designer

Brian Ball is a Vancouver based Visual Artist and Set Designer. Born in Newfoundland, he completed his BFA in Visual Arts at Memorial University of Newfoundland (Corner Brook), and his MFA in Theatre Design at UVIC (Victoria). Recent shows: Alice for TNW (Prince George); Little Mermaid for CSOPA (Chilliwack). Upcoming shows with Green Thumb,the Arts Club, and Theatre Under the Stars (Vancouver). Previous Chemainus Theatre Festival credits: Harvey and Jeeves in Bloom.

Kitty Bennet/Lady Anne de Bourgh

Julie is thrilled to be making her Chemainus debut in Pride & Prejudice. As an actor and Jessie-nominated composer, she has collaborated with companies such as Pacific Theatre, Vancouver Opera, Twenty-Something Theatre, Alley Theatre, Rumble Theatre, Plan Z Theatre, and  Vortex Theatre. This summer she can be found sound designing Two Gentlemen of Verona at Bard on the Beach. She holds a BFA in Acting from TWU. Much  love to Peter.


Kayla Dunbar

Mary Bennet/Charlotte Lucas/Choreographer/Dance Captain

Kayla is an actor, choreographer, and emerging director based in Vancouver,B.C. She has worked for companies such as Arts Club,Vancouver Playhouse, City Opera, Zee lee Theatre, Famous Artists Limited, Gateway Theatre, Studio 58, RCMT, TUTS, Delinquent Theatre, Patrick Street Productions, and many more. Kayla is a graduate of Studio 58. She would like to thank her family and friends for always supporting her. She hopes you enjoy the show!


Erik Gow

Erik is thrilled to be returning to the Chemainus Theatre Festival. Past shows include Munschworx, Anything Goes and Elf. From the Island, Erik  is now based in Vancouver where he’s performed with The Arts Club, Gateway Theatre, Theatre Under The Stars, Axis Theatre, Ensemble Theatre Company, and many more. Upcoming shows include  The Circle Game at The Firehall, and Gutenberg! The Musical which will be in the Vancouver Fringe Festival. Erik is a graduate  of Studio 58.


Crystal Hanson

Costume Designer

Crystal is a graduate of the Fashion Design & Technology Program at Kwantlen University College. Past costume designs at the Chemainus Theatre Festival include A Lovely Sunday,  Million Dollar Quartet, Ring of Fire,Grace & Glorie, Waiting for the Parade, All Shook Up (Gateway Theatre co-production), Countryside Christmas, and Ah, Wilderness! Matthew Hendrickson

Mr. Collins/Mr. Gardiner

Matthew lives in London,UK,where he has appeared in this and that,including  a number of years with the Reduced Shakespeare Company. Most recently,he has been recording audio books for the Royal National Institute for Blind People. Matthew is very glad to be back in Chemainus, having appeared in The Mousetrap and in Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Christmas Carol. On Netflix, you can see him as Dr. Crippen in an episode of Murder Maps.

Julie McIsaac


Julie began her career as an apprentice at Chemainus Theatre Festival in 2005, and previous directing credits include Countryside Christmas (2011) and Harvey(2016). Also a playwright and musician/composer, she is a four-time  Jessie nominee, and was recently recognized alongside collaborator Jay Clift for Outstanding Sound Design/Original Composition for The Out Vigil (TST/Firehall). Upcoming projects include The Marriage  of Figaro (VCM/Opera Studio), Children  of God (Urban lnk/NAC) and co-creating Lés Filles du Roi with Corey Payette (Fugue Theatre).


Melissa Morris

Jane Bennet/Georgiana Darcy/Musical Director

Melissa Morris is an actor, singer,musician,composer, playwright and musical director. She has spent seven seasons at the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival, having played favourite roles such as Puck in Midsummer’s Night Dream, Sylvia in Two Gentlemen of Verona, Anne Page in Trouble on Dibble Street and Diana in All’s Well That Ends Well. Recent  credits include Miracle on 34th Street (Upper  Canada Playhouse) and Ebeneezer (Seven Tyrants).

Amy Lee Newman

Amy has been on stage since the age of five. Artistic endeavours: Theatre Royal, Barkerville and the Bonepicker Project (with Richard Wright). Selected credits: Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing, Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie; Annelie in Steel Magnolias; Electra in Gypsy. Amy is also the leader of the “Christmas Revelers”. She is over the moon to be Mrs. Bennet and thanks Julie McIsaac and CT for this opportunity. Dedicated to the memory of Virginia and Ray Newman.

Paul Terry

Paul is very happy to be back at Chemainus Theatre.  He last appeared as Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady. Other favourite roles include: Alan Turing in Breaking the Code, Jerry in Betrayal, Septimus Hodge in Arcadia and Haydon in Influence. When not on stage Paul appears regularly as a contractor/builder in Victoria, and as a cellist with both the Sooke Philharmonic and the Victoria Chamber Orchestra.

Chris is extremely proud to be making his debut at Chemainus Theatre Festival. Chris was born in England and trained at The Poor School in London under a classical theatre framework. Having just completed a run of An Inspector Calls directed by William B. Davis (of X-Files) and 12 Angry Jurors at CBC Studios, Chris can also be seen in the video game Fifa 17: The Journeyfrom  EA.

This is Lindsay’s debut show with Chemainus Theatre Festival! Lindsay holds a Musical Theatre Diploma & Bachelor of Performing Arts from Capilano University. Recent credits: Jenny Diver in The Threepenny Opera (TITR); The Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz (Gateway Theatre); The Student in Godspell Arts Club); Princess Fiona in Shrek the Musical (TUTS) and (Upcoming!) Mel Watkins

Assistant Stage Manager

Mel is excited return to Chemainus Theatre Festival,after having worked on Twist and Shout, Ring of Fire and Grace and Glorie. Previous theatres include: Blue Bridge Reperatory Theatre, Kaleidoscope Theatre, The Globe Theatre, Upper Canada Playhouse, Lighthouse Festival Theatre, Canadian Children’s Opera Company, Smile Theatre, Theatre Aquarius and The Rose. Originally from Toronto, Mel has been lucky enough to call Vancouver Island home for the last two years now.


John Webber

Lighting Designer

John is thrilled to be back with the Chemainus Theatre Festival. He has been designing both sets and lighting since the early 1990s and has had the privilege  of working with some of Western Canada’s most talented and adventurous artists. He has received nine Jessie Richardson Awards, an Ovation Award,and in Ottawa a Critics Circle Award and a Prix Rideau Award all for outstanding design. Next up for John is Angels in America at the Arts Club.
